dot.ateliers | Ogbojo
Located on the outskirts of Accra, dot.ateliers|Ogbojo is an artist residency space designed for rest, reflection, and creative exchange. Initiated by artist Amoako Boafo, the project transforms an existing structure into a contemplative living and working environment, merging architecture, landscape, and a spirit of communal care.
Through strategic adaptive reuse and subtle additions, the design balances domestic intimacy with institutional presence. A central courtyard, shaded by a newly added canopy, anchors the space—connecting old and new buildings while enabling tropical outdoor living. The canopy regulates light and temperature while creating shared moments for gathering, solitude, or collective dinners under the trees.
The interiors are framed by picture windows and light shafts that draw in natural light without direct heat gain. Passive cooling, cross ventilation, and low-carbon concrete construction form the backbone of the project’s environmental approach, alongside solar-powered systems and stormwater reuse. Local materials and artisanal finishes—from rough-earth render to local walnut-lined walls—ground the architecture in its context while reinforcing its ethos of quiet sustainability.
