Volta Pavilion opens at Belvedere Museum, Vienna

The Volta Pavilion opened on 14 November 2024 at the Belvedere Museum with a panel discussion featuring the designers and curator Sergey Harutoonian. Built entirely from submerged timber harvested from Ghana’s Volta River, the pavilion explores a new material approach and translocal craft through its folded geometries and traditional joinery. Exhibited as part of Amoako Boafo’s solo show Proper Love, where it houses the painting Papillon Hug, the installation offers an intimate architectural frame for Boafo’s work. The project was designed and realized by Juergen Benson-Strohmayer (now TAELON7) and Glenn DeRoché (now DeRoche Projects), with structural engineering by Bollinger + Grohmann.
