Surf Ghana Collective wins Holcim Gold Award

The Surf Ghana Collective in Busua received the 2023 Holcim Gold Award for Middle East & Africa. The project transformed a modest beachfront structure into a vibrant community hub using local materials and low-carbon methods. As the jury noted, “the project’s impact on the local community, innovative resource use, cultural alignment, and commitment to social sustainability all combined to create an exemplary model of sustainable design.” The project was designed and realized by Juergen Benson-Strohmayer (now TAELON7) and Glenn DeRoché (now DeRoche Projects).
