Upcoming: Limbo Engawa Opens at Art Omi
TAELON7’s Limbo Engawa will open on 19 September 2026 at Art Omi’s Sculpture & Architecture Park in New York’s Hudson Valley. Co-commissioned by Art Omi and Limbo Museum, the installation is the second part of a cross-continental architectural project unfolding between Accra and Ghent, New York.
First presented at Limbo Museum in March 2026, Limbo Engawa introduced lightweight steel frames and surfaces woven from salvaged billboard material into the museum’s unfinished concrete structure. Inspired by the Japanese concept of engawa, the installation transformed the threshold between building and landscape into a setting for gathering, rest and encounter.
At Art Omi, the modular system becomes a freestanding landscape pavilion shaped by the fields, wetlands and woods of the Hudson Valley. The two installations operate as parallel interpretations of a single architectural system, testing an architectural idea that moves between continents, climates and cultural contexts.
