Limbo Engawa Opens at Art Omi
TAELON7’s Limbo Engawa opened on 19 September 2026 at Art Omi’s Sculpture & Architecture Park in New York’s Hudson Valley. Co-commissioned by Art Omi and Limbo Museum, the pavilion continues a cross-continental architectural project unfolding between Accra and Ghent, New York.
First presented at Limbo Museum in March 2026, Limbo Engawa occupied the threshold between the museum’s unfinished concrete structure and surrounding cultivated land. Lightweight steel frames and surfaces woven from salvaged billboard material created places for gathering and rest under filtered shade.
Following its presentation in Accra, the pavilion was disassembled, transported across the Atlantic and reassembled at Art Omi. Its original vertical arrangement was rotated into a horizontal configuration, adapting the same architectural system to a radically different landscape. Hugging the slope of a hill, its horizontal planes introduce new lines of movement, frame the horizon and create places to pause and observe under filtered shade.
Across both sites, Limbo Engawa explores how architecture can move and adapt while retaining continuity through its materials, construction and spatial system.
